Session 1: Effective Communication & Active Listening
The first career workshop of the Start Talking series focuses on improving the basic techniques of effective communication and listening skills. Listening is not the same as hearing; hence, your active listening ability not only refers to the words being spoken but also how the message is being delivered, including non-verbal messages sent with the words.
This workshop will discuss the emotional, empathetic, encouraging or inspirational effect from your communication and how this fits within the norms of acceptable behaviour. This workshop will demonstrate how people can become more charismatic. There is also a focus on improving your emotional intelligence.

Session 2: Confident Communication & Cultural Understanding
Developed on the foundation of the first workshop, the second session will start with a deeper professional development of your emotional ability to convey messages using verbal and non-verbal languages.
As non-verbal communication can be very culture-specific, one of the main topics during this session will be cultural awareness, beliefs, perceptions and gaining a better understanding.
